Visa Issuance Guide: General Visa Information

Please note that a visa does not guarantee your entry to the Republic of Korea. The bearer of a Visa maybe subjected to Inspection at the Airport by Korean Immigration officials. These officials have the authority to deny you entry to the Republic of Korea.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SHOULD ANY ONE OF THE ABOVE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS ARE NOT SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF VISA APPLICATION, THAT APPLICATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

2. Time to submit application: Working day between 09:00 am to 11:00 am

3. Time to collect passport: Working day between 02:30 pm to 04:00 pm

4. Processing period:

  • Visa processing period usually takes around 10 working days. However, it can take more time to process depending on the specific types of visa.

  • Please be advised to submit application sufficiently in advance.

  • Currently, our embassy does not have an express visa system.

  • Early visa issuance is only possible for diplomats and holders of an official passport.

5. Visa Requirements: For detailed requirements for each visa type, please refer to the posts of each category.

  • It may be required to submit additional documents if necessary in addition to the documents already submitted for the accuracy and efficiency of the visa process.

6. Notarization:

  • Inviter’s original invitation letter and guarantee letter by a notary public should be submitted by the applicant in person. It is not possible that the Embassy receives inviter’s documents directly by EMS or delivery from Korea.

7. Applicants must come personally to hand over their documents if it is their first visit to Korea. Applicants who have previously been to Korea can submit their documents through another person with an authorizing letter.

8. The Applicant must come personally to collect his/her passport once visa is issued. If unable to be present personally, another person could be authorized to do so by submitting a letter which carries the applicant's passport signature.

9. Please note that all applicants should bring the exact visa fee stated in the form to avoid inconvenience.

10. Please attach your previous passports if any, if it's lost to get the Immigration endorsement.

11. Applicant's passport must be valid for more than six months to stamp the visa.

12. A recent photograph is needed and it must be glued to the Application Form in the space provided and not stapled.

13. All the attached documents must be in A4 Size papers and do not staple.

※ Alien Registrations: Long-term (more than 90 days) visa holders have to register with their jurisdictional immigration offices within 90 days from the date of entry.


※ Please note that category C visa holders are not able to change their status of stay after their entry into the Republic of Korea in accordance with Article 9(1) of the Enforcement Regulations of the Immigration Act.


※ Please note that the original passports can not be returned until the visa screening period finishes.
